On January 11th, the traditional New Year's Concert took place at Haus Appenzell. This year it offered a very special auditory enjoyment: the Hitziger Appenzeller Choir. It performed traditional "Rugguusseli" and playful "Ratzliedli", freshly seasoned with beatbox and rap. The choir, which was founded in 2006 and retires from the stage at the end of January 2018 after a great success throughout Switzerland, gave one (almost) last time a powerful performance at Haus Appenzell. The programme "Joli-zwo", which was created as a farewell gift to the enthusiastic audience of the choir, received a roaring applause from the guests at the Haus Appenzell. Without a doubt, the Appenzell music scene loses a particularly fresh, enthusiastic and creative ensemble with the Hitziger Appenzeller Choir. The joy and gratitude of the guests of the New Year's Concert, who were able to relive this incomparable choir once again, mix into the melancholy about this loss.
